Day Centres and Social Activities

For those with mild dementia and low physical care needs, taking them to an elderly day centre or to a particular social activity can be very enjoyable for them, and also give them a change of scenery and help keep their abilities going.

Do be mindful, though, that especially in later stages of dementia the process of getting there, or the unfamiliar surroundings and people, may be more stressful to them than the good it does, so keep an eye on that. Also see our tips on travelling out.
